This Isn’t a Game

Look everywhere and you see the same thing. Entertainment seems co-opted with messages that go against the grain of reality. The music industry is turning out trash, the comics industry leaders seem hell-bent on suicide, the movie and TV industry seems determined to alienate ordinary people with messages aimed at delegitimizing them.

Don’t get me started on the garbage fire called the News Media.

But our concern today is censorship and how the powers that be have decided to limit who can have a say out there. Major social sites have collectively decided to ban Alex Jones. This was not remotely organic. The top social sites don’t all do the same thing on one day by happenstance. This is just the beginning of the next phase where others will be banned that don’t say what they want.

You may hate Alex Jones, but what he did was not hate speech. It was infotainment. Either you liked his shows or you didn’t. No one forced you to watch them. They went after him because he is popular and isn’t saying what they want you to believe.

This more or less echoes the state of the comics industry, currently. The main companies are determined to push a political agenda few people want. Their sinking sales should ma a major clue but reality seems to be their kryptonite.

People want to be entertained, not lectured to. They want value for their money, not half-assed and unfinished stories that have no point. Any company that expects to survive by not providing what people want is doomed to failure.

Any social media site that thinks it can censor views it doesn’t like without a valid reason is also doomed to fail. This year should end up with some very enlightening results.
